Abstract

Thermochemical assessment of the gasification of the biomass waste composed of sugarcane bagasse aiming for practical applications of an electric arc or radio frequency plasma reactors for the syngas production was carried out, considering different gasifying agents and their mixture (steam + air). The analysis of the calculations in the thermodynamic equilibrium shows that steam is the most efficient oxidant. In this case, the predicted optimum regime corresponds to the value of steam-biomass ratio of 0.4 at the temperature 1000 K (at ambient pressure), and for these conditions the maximum value of the energy efficiency is 0.91 and the value of the exergy efficiency is 0.84.
