Abstract

The Web portability is a usually wished feature and, due to the recent dissemination of mobile devices such as smartphones, it motivated the development of methods to adapt web content to many kinds of interfaces. However, an increasing diversity of user profiles can be observed consuming Web resources. The elderly, as part of this diverse group of users, face barriers that hinder their access to applications and Web content in general. This paper presents a web content adaptation strategy for mobile devices, and in particular, the interaction by the elderly with menu Widget, generated by a tool, Adapte-me!, is analysed. A Case Study to evaluate this strategy was produced, and the results demonstrated that participants performed better while using the menu Widget generated by the tool. Furthermore, all participants showed increased satisfaction interacting with the adapted menu Widget, since they all managed to successfully conclude all assigned tasks during the Case Study. (AU)
