Abstract

In this work, we present an approach to design longitudinally-structured light sheets when apodized by Gaussian profiles and analyze the apodization effects along the propagation axis. Our method, based on discrete superpositions of Bessel-Gauss beams, enables the construction of finite versions of frozen waves, which is more suitable for predicting an experimental situation. Applications include optical trapping displays, continuous-depth holography, augmented and virtual reality, 3D printing systems, and so on. (AU)
