Abstract

In this study, we investigate how hyper-parameters influence the effectiveness of a nonlinear decision-tree-based classifier in a 112-Gbps dual polarization 16-ary quadrature amplitude modulation (DP-16QAM) unrepeated single-channel link. We also assess the classifier's performance when analyzing each polarization individually compared to when both polarizations are processed together. Our findings indicate that separate processing of each polarization is more advantageous at low optical power levels, while simultaneous processing of both polarizations enhances performance at medium to high power levels.
