Resumo

Pretende-se investigar fatores de risco para câncer de cavidade oral/orofaringe e câncer de laringe em um estudo epidemiológico caso-controle. Entre os fatores investigados incluem-se tabagismo, consumo de bebidas alcoólicas, dieta, infecção por papiloma vírus humano, exposições ocupacionais, polimorfismos genéticos de determinadas enzimas e mutações do gene p53. Os controles, nos selecionados mesmos hospitais de recrutamento dos casos, serão pareados aos casos segundo sexo e faixa etária. Os participantes serão entrevistados para obtenção de dados sócio-demográficos informações sobre hábitos, dieta e história ocupacionais. Serão colhidas amostras de células orais e de sangue (casos e controles) e de biópsia/espécime cirúrgico (casos). Em São Paulo deverão ser incluídos 400 casos de câncer de cavidade oral/orofaringe, 200 casos de câncer de laringe e 400 controles. Para avaliar o efeito independente de cada fator será utilizada a técnica de regressão logística. (AU)
