Abstract

High throughput sequencing (HTS) allowed important advances in the identification and characterization of viruses without requirement the viral isolation or propagation in cell culture system. In recent year, the costs these methods have been drastically reduced, it making that uses this method increasingly in studies of viruses with importance in human public health. Therefore, exploring this methodology, we will use HTS approach based on the MinION platform to perform diagnostic and sequencing in a unique step. Thus, we will develop panels for diagnostic of arboviruses and viral hepatitis that cause human disease, and viruses that affect immunosuppressed patients and viruses that cause infection in the central nervous system. These diagnostic approaches with MinION sequencing can be implemented in the clinical routine, patented and made available in commercial diagnostic kits. Therefore, this project will provide important information with diagnosis, genomic characterization, taxonomy, evolution and molecular epidemiology, as well as try to isolate viral of human clinical importance.
