Nutrient uptake and mineral nutrition of Hevea brasiliensis (Willd., Ex. Adr. De Juss.) Muell-Arg.

Abstract

The economic and industrial importance of natural rubber makes the rubber tree Hevea brasiliensis (Willd., Ex. Adr. De Juss.) Muell-Arg. a culture of great importance on the world stage. In the establishment of a rubber tree, the use of vigorous rootstocks and the choice of clones adapted to the region with high potential for growth and production are of fundamental importance. Currently, the system for cultivating rubber tree seedlings has been redefined with the advent of Normative Instruction (IN) n. 29 of August 5, 2009, of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply (MAPA) and Resolution 154 of November 22, 2013 of the Secretariat of Agriculture and Supply of the State of São Paulo (SAA / SP). The standardization guarantees better phytosanitary quality and genetic origin of the seedlings, thus achieving a better productive performance. Studies related to mineral nutrition and the uptake of rubber trees, within the new system of cultivation recommended by (IN) n. 29, are still scarce in the literature. Thus, in order to generate information that contributes to the development of the crop, this research provides for the installation of three trials: the first one intends to evaluate the application of doses of slow release fertilizer applied to the planting substrate together with the splitting of the fertirrigation in the production of rubber tree rootstocks grown in a suspended nursery; the second plan is to accompany the characterization of the absorption and nutrient accumulation gait in the development of rubber tree rootstocks grown in suspended nursery; the third goal is to determine the nutrient absorption gait in canopy / rubber tree rootstock combinations transplanted to the field. The data obtained should provide subsidies for the nutrient splitting, aiming at a high productivity in terms of the production of rubber tree seedlings and their performance in the field. (AU)
