Abstract

Natural rubber is used to manufacture more than 40,000 products, and plays a fundamental role in the tire industry. Among all species that produce latex, the rubber tree [Hevea brasiliensis (Willd. Ex Adr. Juss.) Muell-Arg.], plant native to the Amazon region, is the largest source of natural rubber in the world. The fungus Microcyclus ulei is the cause of SALB (South American leaf bligth), primary disease that affects rubber tree in Brazil. Although rubber is a plant native of the Amazon region where conditions are optimal for growth and productivity, in this region occurs SALB. Thus, rubber planting expanded to escape areas that present new stress conditions such as wind and lower temperatures and, for this reason, genetic improvement has been seeking clones adapted to these regions. The cycle of genetic improvement of rubber takes approximately 30 years to materialize In this way, it is essential to develop new techniques for early assessment, enabling reduce and optimize ratings for this culture. Techniques such as sequencing of messenger RNA (mRNA) in next-generation sequencing (RNA-seq) platforms have become an important tool, aiding the search for genes responsible for agronomic traits of interest. The RNA-seq gives the transcriptome profile, and is the starting point for the identification of new and / or rare transcripts and is a powerful tool for studying gene expression. Yet, are descriptive transcriptomes rubber obtained by RNA-seq for leaves, latex and panel available, but none of these work aimed to study the gene expression profile under conditions important for breeding programs stress. Thus, this study aims to know the gene expression in response to cold and to identify genes involved in tolerance to this stress as well as identify microsatellite markers (SSRs- Simple Sequence Repeats) and single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) related to genes of interest.
