Abstract
INTRODUCTION: The lesions in peripheral nerves usually cause changes in the physiological activity of the neuronal cell body and can stop the innervation of organs distal to the lesion and, in the case of motor neuron, the organ involved is the muscle. Wonders whether electrical stimulation and laser therapy have ability to improve muscle and nerve recovery after neurorrhaphy lateral-terminal. The expected answer for this question justifies this research.PURPOSE: To analyze the efficiency of electrical stimulation and low power laser therapy in muscle maintenance and nerve regeneration post side to end neurorrhaphy.METHOD: This work will be performed in the Experimental Surgery Laboratory of the Department of Surgery and Orthopedics, Faculty of Medicine of Botucatu, UNESP. Animals: The whole procedure will be performed according to the Ethical Principles in Animal Experimentation adopted by the Brazilian College of Animal Experimentation (COBEA), and will undergo analysis by the Ethics Committee on Animal Use of the Faculty of Medicine of UNESP - Botucatu. The animals will be provided by the Central Bioterium of UNESP - Botucatu. Will be used 100 rats (Rattus norvegicus) Wistar, males, with an average weight of 200 g. The animals will be divided by lot, in five experimental groups. The animals will be sacrificed after 180 days. Experimental groups: The control group (Control) with 10 animals will be dissected the peroneal nerve, however, this section will not suffer or neurorrhaphy. In the denervated group (denervated), with 10 animals, the peroneal nerve is severed. In neurorrhaphy group Láteroa-teminal (NLT) 20 animals, the distal stump of the peroneal nerve is bent and sutured laterally to the tibial nerve. In neurorrhaphy Group lateral-terminal and electrical stimulation (NLTE), with 20 animals, the procedure performed will be the same as the NLT group, however, after surgery, the animals receive electrical stimulation in the cranial tibial muscle as treatment. In Group neurorrhaphy lateral-terminal and LASER (NLTL), with 20 animals, the procedure performed will be the same as the NLT group, however, after surgery, the animals will receive treatment by laser. In Group neurorrhaphy lateral-terminal EE and LASER (NLTEL), with 20 animals, the procedure performed will be the same as the NLT group, however, after surgery, the animals will receive treatment by laser and Electrical Stimulation.Surgery: All surgical and collection procedures will be performed by the researcher, standardizing the method. Preceding each surgical procedure, the animals are anesthetized with ketamine (70 mg / kg) and xylazine (30 mg / kg) intramuscular and shaved. After, it will be held the following in accordance with the experimental group. The animals will be kept in appropriate boxes, containing five animals each, under controlled temperature (25 ± 2 ° C), light-dark cycle of 12 hours with food and water ad libitum until the time of sacrifice.Tests: All tests will be conducted and the results analyzed by the researcher. walking track analisys: Every 30 days the animals will be subjected to the evaluation of the walking track analisys. Electrophysiological test: The electrophysiological test will be performed before the sacrifice of animals. Muscle contraction force: It will be held immediately after the electrophysiological test.Collection of histological parts and sacrifice : After conducting of muscle strength test animals receive a lethal dose of sodium pentobarbital, administered intraperitoneally, and proceed shall be the collection of segments of the peroneal nerve, the neurorraphies, as well as the collection of muscle tibial cranial right and left. Statistical Analysis: Comparing the groups, will be used analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by Tukey test when detected difference significativa.Em all analyzes will be used significance level of p <0.05.
