Abstract

Started in 2015 Biologix is a startup dedicated to develop solutions in the area of Sleep Medicine employing Internet of Things technologies (IoT).Created by entrepreneurs and researchers in the fields of engineering, life sciences and computer science, the company is currently engaged in developing and marketing a screening and monitoring solution for sleep apnea, a disease that can reach 33% of adult population in Brazil. The sleep apnea screening and monitoring solution consists of an app (Biologix Sleep), a wireless sensor (Oxistar) and a cloud platform. The product will be in pilot phase and clinical validation at Instituto do Coração (InCor). Preliminary tests have already shown good partial results compared to conventional polysomnography systems. There is no other actors developing or marketing similar solutions in the country. The business model is based on the services revenue generated by the screening plans for three groups: (i) doctors and patients, (ii) laboratories, clinics and hospitals and (iii) human resources departments.Biologix has a research cooperation agreement with Fundação Zerbini from InCor / HCFMUSP to support Calibration and Clinical Validation phases of product development.
