The nature of experiences and contexts of media practices involving immigrants in São Paulo City

Abstract

The present project foresees an exploratory and conceptual research that identifies, in the wide universe of migratory communicational actions, the nature of the experiences and the contexts of production of immigrant media practices that materialize in different management models (collective or individual, formal or informal) from several temporalities, objectives and articulation with internal public (the immigrants themselves) and external (for the host and/or receiving society). From a qualitative approach, for data collection, we will use Participant Research; to analyze the information collected, the Discourse Analysis. Among the main results, we hope: to contribute effectively to a set of empirical dates and reflections on the communication practices of immigrants in the São Paulo city, where there is greater international migratory presence in Brazil; and to update the theoretical framework involving migratory studies, the community media, as well as the dialogue with authors who have been dedicated to research in this transnational and intercultural interface of communication, immigration and citizenship. In addition, it aims. The research also project an exchange with undergraduate courses in Social Communication area for the implementation of a communication agency focused on immigrants, contemplating Teaching and Extension areas too.
