Abstract

A considerable effort has been put forward in order to grow semiconducting nanostructured materials. Besides fundamental science, they are very attractive in the opto-electronic industry as well as solar energy conversion due to their unique properties. In this project, we intend to work with two classes of semiconducting materials. (1) organic/inorganic hybrid perovskites of the general formula APbX3, wherein A = Cs or CH3NH3 and X = I, Cl or Br in the form of bulk, thin film, and quantum dots (QDs); (2) and nanostructured transition metal oxides (TMO) of TiO2, ZnO, Fe2O3 grown up on the surface of both microwires and microtubes. Besides studying each of them separated, we intend to grow heterostructures comprised of nanostructured TMO decorated with quantum dots of perovskites. The synthesis of hetero/nanostructured materials and the study of their physical properties have been of great interest in recent years due to numerous technological applications such as photovoltaic devices in solar cell field. Therefore, in this project, we intend to put an effort on synthesis and physical properties characterization of high bandgap perovskites quantum dots and nanostructured TMO. The basic idea is to synthesize zero-dimensional quantum dots APbX3 perovskites and place them on the surface of nanostructured TMO through a dip coating method. A better understanding of structural, morphological, and optoelectronic properties of quantum dots on TMO microtubes will be achieved. We also intend to conduct photodegradation experiments by using the obtained micro/nanostructured semiconducting materials. (AU)
