Abstract

The secondary metabolite monocerin is produced by the fungus Exserohilum rostratum, and in this study, efforts will be applied for obtaining a mutant strain able to produce this compound with higher yield than the wild strain.Due to the therapeutic potential in wounds and injuries, the monocerin will be incorporated in a pharmaceutical formulation, such as a cream, for topical application in the treatment of surgically induced wounds in a murine model. The effect will be analyzed by microscopies, immunohistochemical and biochemistry techniques. (AU)
