Abstract

Brazilian water resources needs to be management and monitored. Thus, we propose the present research development and innovation project: " Automatic Detection of Water Pollutants System and Monitoring of Water Resources using RAMAN - LIBS spectroscopy, Drones and ROV", with the objective of supplying the large local demand and covering the local and global technological gap due to the lack of such solutions. RAMAN and LIBS are spectroscopic methods that make use of laser, can be applied to all forms of samples: solids, liquids or gases and has the capacity to be remotely used and is environmentally correct. However, LIBS still faces some important challenges, especially in applications for liquid samples, particularly related to the matrix effect and low sensitivity. In this project, we will make several approaches to improve LIBS sensitivity in the detection of heavy metals. On the other hand the RAMAN spectroscopy is a mature technique that will be used in the detection of organic pollutants (pesticides). The RAMAN and LIBS spectra will be analyzed using Machine Learning algorithms (Neural Network Convolutional), this approach has many advantages over conventional analytical techniques, for example, it allows real-time analysis and eliminates human intervention during the process. In the last decade it has undergone an accelerated technological development, the presence of increasingly cheaper and miniaturized components that are used in RAMAN - LIBS instrumentation (lasers, spectrometers, detectors), as well as the need to perform measurements in real time and conditions in the which conventional techniques cannot be applied. Also with the popularization of drones, embedded systems, IoT (internet of things) technologies together with machine learning, all this opens the door to many joint DRONE-LASER applications, with the possibility of developing both mobile and fixed water monitoring stations, in urban areas and in inhospitable places.
