Inflammatory profile in patients with chronic rinosinusitis with nasal polyp in different regions of Brazil

Abstract

Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) is a prevalent, multifactorial disease. It causes great burden on patient's quality of life and has a deep economic impact. Despite recent advances, CRS pathophysiology it is still poorly understood. Adequate treatment still represents a great challenge, specially due to frequent recurrences. Recent studies have shown that the treatment choices should take in consideration phenotypical and endotypical features. However, different populations present different inflammatory patterns, due to environmenal and ethnical influences. There is no data regarding the predominant inflamattory pattern in brazillian population. Better understanding of endotypes of CRS patients in Brazil will help on treatment choices, both clinically and surgically. Objectives: To study the inflammatory TH profile, human citokynes and chemokynes of patients with chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) in different regions of Brazil and compare it with controls. Casuistic and Methods: A prospective cross-sectional study will identify the inflammatory profile (Th1 / Th2 / Th17) by concentration of the following : EGF, eotaxina, G-CSF, GM-CSF, IFN±2, IFN³, IL-10, IL-12P40, IL-12P70, IL-13, IL-15, IL-17A, IL-1RA, IL-1±, IL-1², IL-2, IL-3, IL-4, IL-5, IL-6, IL-7, IL-8, IP-10, IL-25, MCP-1, MIP-1±, MIP-1², RANTES, TNF±, TNF², VEGF,FGF-2, TGF-±, FIT-3L, Fractalkine, GRO, MCP-3, MDC, PDGF-AA, PDGF-AB/BB, sCD40L and IL-9 in patients with CRSwNP and controls. The study will be conducted in 10 rhinology centers in different parts of Brazil. Each center will analyze 16 patients and 16 controls. All patients will undergo a minimum of 30 days without steroids or antibiotics. (AU)
