Abstract

Although many recent studies are highlighting the (CE) as one of the main trends in environmental sustainability, little is known about their relationships and influences with the new product development (NPD), not only in Brazil but also globally.. Preceded by a bibliographical review of these themes and based on the adoption of survey (quantitative phase) and case studies (qualitative phase), this research has the general objective of identifying and analyzing ways to adopt the CE principles in the NPD and the influence of the adoption of CE principles on market, environmental and innovation performance. Furthermore, it is planned to understand differences in management practices for the adoption of CE in the NPD in companies operating in Brazil and Canada and also propose a maturity model for the adoption of CE principles in NPD management. It is expected that the results of this research will deepen these themes, and, at the same time, contribute to knowledge areas such as NPD, environmental sustainability, and project management.
