Abstract

Tilapicultura can be a lever of social and economic development, considering the potential of natural resources in Brazil. The main contribution of this study is the evaluation of the evolution of the productivity of tilapicultura in a fish farm, aiming to estimate if the transformations occurred in the production during the period of the study altered the efficiency, measured by the data envelopment analysis technique in its culture environment. Within this theme, as a proposal to measure an efficiency evaluation, through data envelopment analysis (DEA), which is a mathematical programming technique that seeks to analyze performance from a set of inputs and outputs; and the Malmquist Index, to compare improvement of productivity over time, the present project aims to analyze the data of tilapia cultivation, in an intensive system, referring to the period of 2018-2019, regarding efficiency and evolution of fish productivity. Thus, by knowing the performance indicators of the fish farmer, it will be possible to identify the main obstacles of the less efficient tanks (net cages) and optimize their processes to make them more efficient, thus guaranteeing their sustainability in production, related to the total productivity of the factors, which may be influenced by technological change, making inferences about the culture environment analyzed.
