Abstract

The use of psychological counseling procedures that can provide preliminary data regarding the patient's emotional and cognitive conditions is required in public mental health services to the community. The objectives are to (1) describe a simple, inexpensive, easy-to-apply procedure that aims to interfere as little as possible in the setting of the initial interview and (2) to present data regarding its use for screening in a community service setting. From a technical point of view, the Human Figure Drawing with History align with the tradition in Psychology of centralizing in the human figure the diagnostic and intervention process, whose advantage is the universality of the representation of the human figure itself. The Human Figure Drawing Test (both projective and developmental) and the Draw-Story procedure created by Walter Trinca inspired him. It consists in requesting a single drawing of a human figure, followed by history, inquiry and a title, the necessary material being: a sulphite sheet, pointed black pencil and eraser. The sample will be composed of two paired groups, of children and adolescents (6 to 17 years old) who seek psychological and school attendance, without clinical complaints, that will make HFD-H. The Human Figure with History has been used in public screening services for children and adolescents with the purpose of providing an additional source of data to the interview conducted at trial services. It is hoped to contribute to the development of the instrument as a clinical tool to broaden the practice of psychologists. (AU)
