Hybrid polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes (POSS) and their analytical potentiallity as a sensor for organic and inorganic compounds.


Polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes (POSS) are nanostructured chemicals has made it one of the top nanomaterials in the nanoscience/nanotechnology field.In this project, we intend to modifying a octa(3-aminopropyl)silsesquioxane (8NH2-POSS) by a chemical process, and explore its analytical potentiality. The objective of this project is to study the interaction of 8NH2-POSS in the chelation of metallic ions (Ce3+, Cu2+, Ni2+, Co2+, Ag+). These metallic polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane, after rigorous chemical and spectroscopic characterization, should be chemically modified with electroactive compounds, particularly those of electroanalytical interest, such as potassium hexacyanoferrate (II / III). The metallic hybrid polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane on the surface of the solid electrode or graphite paste electrode should be subjected to a rigorous study of cyclic voltammetry. After optimization of the electrochemical parameters and the assembly of an electroanalytical system, these electrodes will be tested, as sensor, in the detection and quantification of some substances of environmental, biological and pharmacological interest such as 4-chlorophenol, L-cysteine, Folic Acid, Pyridoxine, Quinidine, Piroxicam, Tiouracil, , n-Acetylcysteine, Glutathione, Dipyrone, Glucose, Citric Acid, Hydrazine, Isoniazid, Estriol, Melanthonin, Azide (N3- ), Sulfite (SO3-), Nitrite (NO2-).
