Teaching and learning model for the development of new skills for the future accounting professional

Abstract

Given the market demand for professionals with required soft skills and the high degree of involvement of students with technologies, there is a new opportunity for the educational institutions to develop not only the hard skill, but also the soft skills using the student-centered teaching-learning approach. It is required a new teaching model based on competences (soft skills) using constructivism theory and new strategies using technologies for effective teaching and learning. The objective of this study is to develop and test a model for the development of courses with new instructional strategies to develop and assess future accounting professional regarding the following competencies (soft skills): Collaboration, Critical Thinking, Problem Solving and Communication in addition to hard skills. New methodologies will be used to implement strategies that may improve these new competences (soft skills) in face-to-face / hybrid courses in a public higher education institution in the state of São Paulo (AU)
