Abstract
Visiting Professor Giovanni Widmer will contribute to the project entitled: "Diagnosis of the Cryptosporidium spp. protozoan by automated image analysis, process FAPESP: 18/21204-7, coordinated by Prof. Jancarlo Ferreira Gomes, linked to FAPESP Thematic grant 14/12236-1, under the Coordination of Prof. Alexandre Xavier Falcão. Discussion and interpretation of molecular analysis results for confirmation of coproparasitological diagnosis by the TF-Test Coccidia technique will be promoted, in the context of the laboratory validation process, the Automated Diagnosis of Intestinal Parasites (DAPI) system for the detection of Cryptosporidium. spp. In turn, during the stay of this scientist to FMVA, more specifically to the Laboratory of Parasitic Diseases of Animals, as well as the Laboratory of Veterinary Parasitology under the responsibility of Prof. Katia Bresciani, will be especially contemplated the project FAPESP 18/12136-8, entitled "Molecular characterization, spatial distribution and analysis of risk factors for the occurrence of Cryptosporidium spp. and Giardia spp. in Pigeons -Courier (Columba livia) for the adoption of good husbandry management practices ". The Prof. Giovanni Widmer will advise on the analysis of other genes in Cryptosporidium positive samples. This renowned researcher will also contribute to the strengthening of our research group on cryptosporidiosis, visiting Ornithopathology Laboratory Prof. Marcelo Meireles. Interaction will also be held with postgraduates of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences of Jaboticabal, who make up the team of Prof. Iveraldo Santos Dutra, exchanging experiences and planning future research projects. Finally, in particular, he will guide the next steps in the development of the project: "Investigating the Effect of Commercial Prebiotics on C. parvum Infected Calves", of which he was an intellectual mentor, as a plan for future cooperative research. During this period, a Discipline will be offered at the Graduate Course in Animal Science of FMVA, UNESP, Araçatuba and he will participate as a Full Member of a Doctoral Defense Examining Board.
