Abstract

The development and production of certified reference materials (MRC) is a major challenge, despite the high demand in the Brazilian market. The new norms and policies increasingly directed to the quality management system (QMS) have demanded and the responsible bodies have supervised the appropriate use of these materials, increasing the demand and consequently the commercialization. However, few MRC-producing units are found in Brazil and they are unable to meet the needs of the domestic market, requiring the importation of most of the MRC consumed in the country. Usually MRCs are used to meet the requirements of a specific standard, and when the standard used is of national origin, it is unlikely to find the MRC that meet the conditions of the standard in the international market, requiring the purchase of similar or several different MRCs which add up to the required MRC, such as the inorganic cations series of Annex XX for potability and resolution CONAMA 420 for soils (cadmium, chromium, copper, nickel and lead) widely used in accredited environmental analysis laboratories, in which this series is imported separately, increasing costs for the laboratory service provider. In this sense, the present proposal intends to develop and characterize a candidate for national reference material containing the cations to specifically meet the Brazilian standards. The present proposal includes the participation of the company SPR - Consultancy and Training in Metrology, represented by its partners that work in the area of metrology and implementation of the norms of the General Quality System, in addition to the support of employees directly connected with universities in the state of São Paulo and researchers and consultants at national and international levels with experience in researching reference materials that have already agreed to participate in the project.
