Abstract

This work is a clinical case study about the treatment of mood symptoms in university students, through therapy guided by cognitive behavioral approach (CBT). The study investigates the associations between characteristics of the therapeutic alliance and the progression of the treatment. Participants will be two university students attending a psychological counseling service. For data collection, the following instruments will be used: Beck Depression Inventory (BDI II); Cognitive Behavioral Inventory for Therapeutic Alliance Assessment; Empathy Scale (Therapist and Patient Versions) and semi-structured interviews. The study assumes that some features of the therapist-client relationship in CBT may influence the patient's clinical course and treatment outcome. If the assumption is confirmed, the results may support the creation and / or improvement of strategies to establish a positive therapeutic alliance in CBT. It is also intended to contribute to the elaboration and / or improvement of mental health care actions aimed at university students. (AU)
