Abstract
In a current review about pharmacogenomics studies in Brazil, authors showed that there are several retrospectives studies focusing on the drugs and genes. However, no prospective analyses of drug therapy outcomes or cost-effectiveness assessments of pharmacogenomics-guided therapy were found at 2018. Last years, we organized lab logistics and clinical multidisciplinary professional to perform prospective studies in pharmacogenomics, beside cost-effectiveness analysis. The present project, to the best of our knowledge, has prospective and pioneer studies to evaluate cost-effectiveness in Brazil. Our main results of the previous grant have already published approximately 40 scientific papers (listed in an attached document). The present application will show 2 proposed subprojects, item by item, for easing the understanding. 1- For the implementation and cost-effectiveness evaluation of a pharmacogenetic-based warfarin dosing algorithm: we will check if this implementation is advantageous and we will measure the quality of this treatment (by TTR) and, thus, we can estimate a possible decreasing of thromboembolism and bleeding events, which can indicate better costs. 2- For the implementation and cost-effectiveness evaluation of genetic markers in the choice of the pharmacological treatment of smoking: since there are financial difficulties for the treatment of smokers, we could be more effective and economical in order to achieve greater success and larger numbers of patients treated.
