Abstract

Healthcare-related infection (HAI) represents the most frequent and adverse event in health care systems globally, affecting millions of people each year. HAI increases risks involving patient health, stay length in hospital and healthcare costs. There are infections related to the surgical procedure that are reported contamination of surgical instruments, as being that most of the surgical instruments are reused in several patients, several times. Therefore, a processing is required for cleaning, sterilization and reuse of these surgical instruments. In the current cleaning methods, which is the most important step of this process, without the material cannot be considered sterilized or even disinfected, there is still no automated cleaning procedure involving fluent steam which, given its effectiveness, may be an alternative to state of the art in the current cleaning techniques. A fluent steam cleaning equipment fully automated is innovative and without similar worldwide. (AU)
