Abstract

This is project aims to evaluate the nursing professional practice environment and its relationship with the safety climate, job satisfaction, intention to remain in the job, quality of care and events related to health care in primary care. Explanatory sequential mixed method study with nurses working in primary care in the city of Campinas, São Paulo. The first quantitative phase, cross-sectional and correlational descriptive, will be considered at least 176 participants. For data collection will be considered the characterization form and the instruments: Practice Envorinment Scale, Primary Care Questionnaire and the Work Satisfaction subscale of the Safety Attitudes Questionnaire - Short Form 2006. A descriptive and correlational analysis will be performed between the study variables. The qualitative phase will be through interviews, in which participants will be grouped according to the classification of the type of environment (favorable, mixed and unfavorable), whose sample will be by the criterion of saturation of emerging information and data analysis will be with thematic content analysis. The two phases will be connected at the intermediate stage and the results will be integrated by complementarity, which will favor a more complete and comprehensive final interpretation. Considering the scarcity of studies that evaluate the nursing practice environment in primary care, the results of this research, besides evaluating the practice environment, will enable managers to implement strategies to establish healthy work environments and, as a consequence, favor the nurses' professional satisfaction and the quality of assistance to the patients.
