Abstract

The retina constitutes a fairly simple model for tackling fundamental questions about the organization of the SN thanks to its laminar arrangement where the cell layers alternate with the plexiform layers, in which the synapses are present. In this project it is intended to take advantage of the experience of the different laboratories involved in the study of the retina in a multidisciplinary approach which will combine morphological, physiological, immunocytochemical and behavioral techniques for the study of fundamental questions about the fine organization of the retina, such as the question of the existence of an ultraviolet photoreceptor, of the neurotransmitters and receptors in defined cell types and about the connections between specific cell types.
