Abstract

The Federal University of ABC (UFABC) is one of the new Brazilian federal universities, created by Law 11,145, on July 26, 2005. Although relatively new, the University has infrastructure to support Research activities, characterized by the institutional support office, research integrity office and, in addition, has strategies for open access publications. Even so, support from funding agencies is essential for the continuity and improvement of research to a level of excellence and to address some shortcomings found. Therefore, aiming to meet the current needs of the Center for Mathematics, Computing and Cognition, we present a project for using the Institutional Infrastructure Costs for Research of the Center for Mathematics, Computing and Cognition (CMCC). This proposal focuses on: (1) maintenance and improvements in one of the institution's vivariums, essential for its proper functioning and guaranteeing the quality of the animals used in research projects; (2) the adaptation of two image analysis rooms, which include two microscopes of high cost and unique at UFABC, as well as a photo-documenter; (3) adaptation of a workstation and repair of two fundamental equipment for the running of two computer labs; (4) purchasing credits for conducting online surveys during social isolation. These infrastructure will be fundamental for the development of research activities with an inter and multidisciplinary character, with three main axes: i) research in neurosciences with an emphasis on neurobiology and psychobiology with the use of experimental animals; ii) computational and mathematical modeling of biological systems, iii) research on cognitive processes. The adaptations presented will be essential to maintain excellence in research. (AU)
