Abstract

Suicide is a constantly growing phenomenon. Improvement in the surveillance and monitoring of suicide and suicide attempts is necessary for its prevention and, for that, there is a need for a broad multisectoral strategy. This multisectoral strategy is currently included in Ministry of Health's Strategic Actions Agenda for Suicide Surveillance, Prevention, and Health Promotion in Brazil (2017 - 2020). Among its strategic priorities are: "(a) surveillance and qualification of suicide information from a survey of data gaps and related information to attempts and suicides in most vulnerable population groups; (b) improving quality information from the databases relationship from different health systems and other sectors; (c) research and studies in partnership with educational institutions for epidemiological studies of suicide, especially in regard to identified gaps in information systems and social determinants of health and (d) mapping of suicide notifications and suicide attempts in the Brazilian territory to establish priorities according to regional particularities and population groups in situations of greater vulnerability". Therefore, this research project intends to characterize the occurrences of suicide attempts occurred at São Paulo State by Fire Department of the Military Police of the State of São Paulo (CBPMESP), between 2018 and 2019, in order to map the occurrences for the different administrative regions of São Paulo State aiming at the creation of indicators for the assistance to suicide attempts and the fatal victims. For this, data will be extracted from the Operational Data System (SDO) of the Operational Coordination (CoordOp) of the CBPMESP and analyzed. The results of this research project provide the formation at the master's degree of the student Tiago Regis Franco de Almeida by the Postgraduate Program in Collective Health of the Federal University of São Paulo, as well as the production of scientific articles for publication in scientific journals of high international impact. In addition, it is intended to discuss in a more robust way the inconsistencies of information disclosed about the occurrences of suicide by regions in the São Paulo State. (AU)
