Abstract

This research project aims to generate knowledge and innovation, attacking major Internet problems and developing technologies that can make the Internet viable. The main theme is Internet via wireless visible light communication that can potentially increase the data throughput, and is an alternative for the spectrum crunch problem. The recent pandemic caused by the corona virus led the video streaming services, such as Netflix, Globoplay, Facebook e YouTube, to reduce the transmitted video resolution to not cause impact on the Internet. This reinforce the need for viable Internet technologies that can increase the network bandwidth. The wireless visible light communication presents as the most promising alternative, due to the spectrum it has available, potentially enabling larger bandwidth for data communication, as videos. However, for that to happen, it is necessary to that research advance in this area, developing models, algorithms, protocols and prototypes. Those are the main goals of this research project. (AU)
