Adaptation of Research Infrastructure in Applied Research Centers at Mackenzie Presbyterian University

Abstract

Mackenzie Presbyterian University (UPM) has a long history of teaching, prominent research and social interaction. Amongst private Institutions, UPM is the one with several cutting-edge projects approved by this funding agency. As we are expanding the research, the need for infrastructure adaptation is natural, in order to better enable research activities for our researchers, graduate and undergraduate students. Equipment maintenance is also imperative for the execution of quality research in order to expand the production of scientific knowledge. Among the numerous possibilities for research and innovation, the development of graphene-based nanomaterials, photonic, electronic devices and molecule vectors with pharmacological potential stand out as the institution's unique vocation, allowing relevant scientific production and products geared to meet the demands of the productive sector. Several projects that involve basic and applied research using animal subjects have resulted in the increase in the scientific production of high impact indicators. Moreover, new projects with external support that have been approved increase the demand for infrastructure. Therefore, this project seeks to request and justify the use of the institutional technical reserve for improvements in the MackGraphe's Clean Room, as well as in the UPM'S Central Animal Facility. This will improve the quality of research, work and safety conditions of these environments. (AU)
