Abstract
In the present project proposal we aim to investigate the non-linear optical properties of specially synthesized magnetic fluids. The new magnetic fluids with narrow size distribution with different size ranges from 5 to 50 nm and different shape of magnetic particles will be synthesized. Its structure and magnetic properties will be studied using XRD, TEM and VSM. The SAXS and non-linear optical study will be then investigated using the facilities at USP, Brazil. We will use a recently proposed SAXS analysis model. This model has been developed by the project advisor, Prof. Dr. Antonio Martins Figueiredo Neto, and his group at São Paulo University. We believe that the results of this joint project will make significant contributions to the literature to understand the role of size and shape of the magnetic nanoparticles in governing the structure-magnetic properties.
