Abstract

The project focuses on theoretical-methodological aspects at the interface between psychology and cultural heritage, through the conceptualization of aesthetic traditions in everyday life. It works over image based methodologies, organized in three basic levels: 1) Theoretical, following the task of conceptualizing aesthetic traditions into the everyday life, at the interface of psychology with the studies of cultural heritage; 2) Methodological, in order to improve image based methodologies; 3) Training of researchers on both, methodological scope and research practice, based on specific social and community groups. This project offers a continuity for the previous Fapesp funding, APR 2016/20164-6, DR2017/10135-1 and BEPE 21/23585-8, through which our team has been working on qualitative research and guided by the phenomenological and hermeneutical approaches. Particularly, the aim of our projects are the study of values and meaning collected directly from the participant sensibilities and their aesthetic experiences, in a field conceived as an expressive space formed in social relationships; an aesthetic of situation. At the interface with psychology, cultural heritage debates transcend artefacts and practices, to situate themselves in the shared sensibility, as a living culture in a living body. The impacts of these actions are revealed in the recognition of the artistic and creative potential of common people, as well as in their interpretive abilities of cultural traditions. In addition to publications of theoretical-methodological advances, the project goals are to expand collaborative productions and means of disseminating knowledge, contributing to initiatives for social transformation and community development. The project also contributes to psychology to review some basic themes on cultural heritage and to participate actively in the cultural politics debates. (AU)
