Abstract

In this project, the thermal, mechanical, magnetic, electrochemical, and biocidal properties of Cu-9%Al-x%Mn-y%Sn multicomponent alloys (%wt.) and multi-principal components AlCoCuzFeMnNi and CuzFeMnNiSnTi alloys (z = molar fraction) will be investigated using different experimental techniques. Furthermore, the waste generated within this research activity will be reused to synthesize copper-based nanoparticles. The results obtained will provide information on the microstructure and the phase stability intervals found, as well as on the effects of the alloying element change on the thermal, mechanical, magnetic, and microbicidal behavior of the alloys. The nanoparticles produced from copper-based waste will have their magnetic properties determined and related to their composition and size, while their biocidal capacity will be tested against the same pathogens exposed to the alloy surfaces. The results produced will allow the development of antimicrobial surfaces from alloys and nanoparticles with different copper contents, while materials with magnetic properties will be tested in prototypes of thermomagnetic motors.
