Abstract

The adherence, permanence and proliferation of infectious agents on surfaces and environments related to healthcare areas requires enormous attention and investment in technologies that bring improvements in sanitization procedures, durability and efficiency, cost reduction, and less environmental impact. This project aims to develop antimicrobial agents that form bacteriostatic films. Together with Truly Nolen Brasil, a leading company in the control of infectious agents, we will develop materials based on biopolymers of nanocellulose, pectin and lignin that have the capacity to form antimicrobial films, aiming to replace the commonly used and imported silane-quaternary components. Therefore, it is intended to obtain new and sustainable antimicrobial agents using abundant raw materials from the Brazilian agricultural industry. The proposal establishes the Academy-Private Initiative partnership that directs its efforts to provide innovations-products that improve society's quality of life, and that will certainly have a positive impact on the global areas of public health and the control of infectious agents.
