Abstract

The present project aims, through a systematic study, to propose and evaluate appropriate actions to be adopted for the conservation of works of art in contemporary metal, both during their routine maintenance and also, if necessary, on the occasion of more invasive interventions. To this end, based on questions that emerged during the recently completed project (Characterization and evaluation of the state of conservation of selection of metallic works from the collection of the Museum of Contemporary Art-USP, CNPq n. 305177/2017-6), three priorities were considered lines of research, which will be addressed during the study: 1 - maintenance and polishing of metallic surfaces; 2 - renovation of weatherproof steel surfaces; 3 - fixation of non-solidarized elements of the works. Each of them will systematically develop a methodology to adequately and safely guide conservation and restoration actions for contemporary metallic artifacts. (AU)
