Abstract
In this project we will study the quantization of fields in non globally hyperbolic spacetimes (with timelike boundaries). These backgrounds can represent exact solutions of Einstein Equations with singularities or with some kind of information exchange between the bulk and the spatial infinity (Anti-de Sitter Spacetime). The prescription of fields in these backgrounds is, in general, non unique and a boundary condition at the boundary turns out to be necessary. In this way, any (classical or quantum) observable derived from this field theory will depend on the choice of this boundary condition. We will study several aspects of the quantization of fields in spacetimes with boundary, with emphasis on the anti-de Sitter and the cosmic string spacetimes. The first one turns out to be crucial in this project for two reasons: i) the simplicity of a field theory in this background and ii) it is maximally symmetric, so we can study the behavior of the charges associated with symmetries in the quantization process. The later will be used as a ``Toy model''for the study of fields around naked singularities. Finally, we will also study the behavior of the Unruh-deWitt detector on these backgrounds. This theoretical tool should gives us a different point of view. Finally, we emphasize that this project will be developed in collaboration with Prof. Claudio Dappiaggi (Università degli Studi di Pavia), one of the main authorities in this research line. (AU)
