Ethnic-racial education in the implementation of the National Curricular Common Base (BNCC): challenges and possibilities

Abstract

This research project aims to map, investigate and monitor pedagogical practices related to the issue of racial ethnic diversity, in schools of the state elementary school network I (1st to 5th year) and II (6th to 9th year), and of high school. Based on the diagnosis of practices aimed at ethnic-racial education, in its possibilities and limits, there is also a proposal to develop teacher training actions, as a way of contributing to the resizing of practices and to the exchange of knowledge and experiences, through workshops, workshops and conversation circles. This project also aims to support institutions in the definition of public educational policies related to the themes of racial and ethnic diversity. This investigation will be carried out based on action research and oral history, for the diagnosis and mapping of pedagogical practices aimed at ethnic-racial diversity, in its possibilities, difficulties and demands, as well as for the actions to be proposed in the resizing and implementation of these practices. Data will be collected through individual and/or collective interviews and participant observation. Documentary research on the National Curriculum Guidelines for Ethnic-Racial Relations, the BNCC, the Paulista Curriculum and the Political-Pedagogical Project of the participating schools will also be necessary.
