Abstract

This research project aims to debate methodologies in dealing with museum and documentary collections, concerning their formulations in the digital realm, as well as the prototyping of functionalities to be performed in the collections. In this sense, it encompasses three fundamental axes, which are interrelated, namely: (1) databases and their correlations with archive structures, considering their implications for cataloging, conservation, preservation, and access; (2) management systems, observing the ways of handling digital documents within institutional missions and their commitment to the public purpose of the university; and, finally, (3) the born-digital objects, in the institutional universe, observing the different natures of documents, their forms of access, visualization and preservation of logics and languages. Through these three perspectives, to be developed from the investigations proposed by the researchers involved, we intend to conceptually model the structures of organization, representation, and dissemination of information, consolidating knowledge that can guide both new research and institutional actions in the public and state structures.
