Abstract

Transitions caused by technological advances are part of a scenario in which the person does not necessarily need to change their profession or even their job to undergo a career transition. This reality affects university professors, who exercise a highly intellectualized profession, but who are subject to the impact of technological advances, as well as workers from the most diverse professions. Based on this reasoning, the research proposed in this project has this general aim: "Analyzing the university professors' career transitions, considering the recent technological advances that involve this occupation". Through a qualitative research, applied to professors from different regions of Brazil, the following specific aims will be pursued: 1- To outline an overview of the technological advances that have occurred in the work of university professors in recent years; 2- Classify the types of career transition caused by technological advances; 3- Search the attributes of transitions caused by technological advances; 4- Check how university professors adapt to transitions caused by technological advances; 5- Explore the perception of risks caused by transitions caused by technological advances. The research has the potential to generate the following future results that may be useful, not only in the Brazilian context, but also in other countries that invest in technological advances in the educational area: 1- To outline an overview of the career transitions caused by technological advances; 2- Set up a set of guidelines to help people deal with transitions caused by technological advances; Provide to higher education institutions an accessible material to understand the impacts of investments in technology on the career of their professors; Make publications in scientific journals that provide new researchers with the possibility of advancing in technology and career studies.
