Abstract

Administration of Resveratrol/Quercetin reduces inflammation and bone resorption in apical periodontitis (AP), but red wine (VT) has several other polyphenols. On the other hand, alcohol (ALC) increases the inflammatory process in AP. Non-alcoholic red wine (VTSA) may be promising to evaluate the effect of the polyphenol pool without the involvement of the alcoholic component. There are no studies relating to the effect of VTSA on AP. The aim of this study will be to evaluate the development of AP in rats fed a diet supplemented with VTSA consumption and isolated phenolic components (Resveratrol+Quercetin, Cyanidin 3-glucoside, p_coumaric acid, and gallic acid). Therefore, the quantification of the polyphenols present in the VT will be performed using liquid chromatography. 48 male Wistar albino rats will be used, after BP induction, will be distributed into 6 groups as follows: Control (C), Alcohol-free Red Wine (VTSA), Resveratrol+Quercetin (R+Q), Cyanidin 3-glucoside (C3G), p_coumaric acid (PC) and gallic acid (AG). The administration of the solutions for each group will be 4.28 mL/kg via gavage once a day, a volume corresponding to the amount of 300 mL (two glasses) of VT. After the experimental period, the animals will be euthanized for removal of the maxilla and mandible for histological, immunochemical analyzes (IL-1² and IL-10, TRAP, OPG, and RANKL) and qPCR analyzes of the bone tissue at the PA site. Statistical analysis will be performed using the SigmaPlot 12.0" program with a significance level of 5%. (AU)
