Abstract

In this project, we propose to implement a N recommendation model that encompasses the main agronomic parameters that allow maximizing the crop response to N application. All parameters of the calibrated model are essential to find an ideal N rate to apply in the crop. This ideal rate must be applied to the soil in the correct way, increasing the use of fertilizer by the plant and polluting less natural resources. According to the model, the N application rate in the fields will depend on the main parameters that directly impact Nitrogen Use Efficiency (EUN), namely the crop variety, the N rate, water availability and crop productivity (Productivity (X,Y)). The application of the model, to the detriment of conventional recommendations, allowed savings of 24 kg/ha of N in a crop of approximately 137 hectares. This difference corresponded to a saving of 7.8 tons of urea. (AU)
