Abstract

The cultivation of annual crops in succession to forage grasses under no-tillage occupies large areas in Brazil. New alternatives for nitrogen fertilization management have emerged in this system, and farmers have applied in advance all nitrogen in the forage crops or before sowing maize. However, there are many doubts about the efficiency of nitrogen utilization by annual crops in succession to Urochloa brizantha and Urochloa ruziziensis in no-till system. The response of rice and maize to N application time and rates will be determined, when grown after grasses. In maize 15N will be applied to determine N recovery and use efficiency. (AU)
