Abstract

Professor Tobias Wang is currently one of the leading researchers in the field of comparative physiology, and his research encompasses various regulatory and adaptive issues in vertebrates. His collaboration with my research group at UNICAMP aims to expand the scope of our investigations incorporating evolutionary, adaptive, and integrative aspects. Additionally, it aims to broaden the scope of in vivo investigations, which is Professor Tobias Wang's specialty, allowing for the exploration of hypotheses proposed using in vitro preparations, especially related to the regulation of the cardiovascular system by novel catecholamines described by my laboratory, which currently receives funding from a thematic project by FAPESP (19/16805-4). Professor Tobias will investigate the importance of the endothelium and novel catecholamines in the cardiovascular regulation of vertebrates. He will also assist in the development and calibration of a Langendorff preparation for ectothermic vertebrates, supervise students, and disseminate in vivo instrumentation techniques. Additionally, he will participate in teaching activities, including seminars and graduate courses. Therefore, besides the original scientific data, the proposed collaboration will help to strengthen the cooperation between institutions, expanding the international reach of UNICAMP, and improve the student's training in different research techniques.
