Abstract

In this SPRINT project, cooperating partners from the Butantan Institute and the University of Munster propose to further expand their existing efforts to characterize enteroaggregative Escherichia coli (EAEC) isolates. Genotypic characterizations will be carried out to analyze the diversity of operons that encode the five variants of AAF fimbriae (aggregative adherence fiambriae) using the EAEC collection under study in the ongoing project with FAPESP funding (2018/04410-0). In addition, a latex agglutination-based rapid diagnostic test will be standardized using the large collection of EAEC already sequenced in Münster. In addition, scientific dissemination strategies will be developed as postgraduate courses and seminars and the preparation and publication of scientific articles. (AU)
