Juniper Mx204 Routers aquisition to integrate the UFABC to the REDENESP

Abstract

The plan for the use of the Institutional Technical Reserve (ITR) for Connectivity to the Rednesp Network at the Federal University of ABC (UFABC) aims to enhance the institution's communication and connectivity infrastructure. The project aims to acquire BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) routing equipment, replacing outdated models that have experienced failures and are no longer under warranty. The chosen equipment is the Juniper MX204, widely recognized and recommended for network edge operations and BGP routing. UFABC has accumulated resources in the ITR over the years, totaling R$ 336,735.86, of which R$ 317,770.22 will be invested in this project. The remaining balance of R$ 18,965.64 will be reserved for future projects. The decision to opt for the Juniper MX204 model is justified by the unavailability of the previous model and its compatibility with existing equipment. Moreover, the value of the equipment was obtained through quotations from different companies, with Binário's proposal offering the best cost-effectiveness.The plan aims to benefit the entire academic community at UFABC, particularly researchers, students, and staff at the Santo André and São Bernardo do Campo campuses, ensuring uninterrupted access to available computing resources.
