Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of a hearing accessibility application and a digital microphone system on speech perception in noise for hearing aid users. This is a randomized, double-blind clinical study. 120 patients regularly enrolled at the Audiology and Speech Therapy Clinic at FOB-USP, hearing aid users, will be evaluated in three test situations: with and a digital microphone system turned on and off, and with the hearing accessibility application connected to the hearing aids. The Hearing in Noise Test Brazil (HINT) will be applied with a fixed signal-to-noise ratio of -10dBSNR, and a satisfaction questionnaire. Statistical analysis of the data will be performed using the Wilcoxon test for the HINT, and the paired T-test for the satisfaction questionnaire. (AU)
