Abstract

The Animal Science Institute (IZ), belonging to the São Paulo Agribusiness Technology Agency (APTA), from the São Paulo State Department of Agriculture and Supply (SAA), is responsible for developing and transferring technology and inputs for the sustainability of the systems of animal production. The research meets the demands of the agricultural sector and helps to define public policies, aiming at food security and increasing productivity in the production sector. At Animal Science Institute, the following Research, Development and Innovation (RD&I) units are available: Beef Cattle Research Center of Sertãozinho, Dairy Cattle Research Center of Nova Odessa, Diversified Zootechnics Research Center of Nova Odessa, Pastures and Animal Feed Research Center of Nova Odessa, Genetics and Biotechnology Research Center of Nova Odessa, Research Unit of Registro, Research Unit of Ribeirão Preto and Sustainable Livestock Research Center of São José do Rio Preto, in addition to administrative centers and the Research Coordination Center. All mentioned Research Units are directly linked to the Postgraduate course in Sustainable Livestock Production, aim developing projects, as well as training human resources and transferring knowledge.
