Abstract

The Center of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence for Cybersecurity is a joint initiative of academia and industry to foster innovative research and applied solutions in Artificial Intelligence to promote cyber-resilience in society and organizations, which represents the ability to prepare, protect, detect, respond to and recover from potential internal or external cyber threats. The Center will be based at the Centro de Informática of the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco. Its proposal is focused on three significant research areas at the intersection between Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security: attack and defense, adversarial learning, and cyber-physical applications. The scientific, technological, and innovation institutions that host the Center's researchers are from all Brazilian regions. The Center has an applied purpose and a relevant group of national and international researchers and partner companies that are international references in the application of technology in each of the investigated areas. Considering its capillarity, interdisciplinarity, plurality, and in-network operation, the Center will promote research projects at the most diverse levels, innovative world-class research, extension projects for integration with the society, technological entrepreneurship, technology transfer, and scientific dissemination aiming to be an international reference in the application of Artificial Intelligence in Cyber Security.
