Abstract

General objective: To analyze the nurses' work process in health surveillance in primary health care. Specific objectives: Characterize the constituent elements of the nurses' work process from the perspective of health surveillance; know how nurses identify the health needs of people who live in the territory under their team's health responsibility; identify how nurses consider the process of social determination of the health-disease process in their practice; know how nurses understand health surveillance; identify nurses' practices with potential for health surveillance. Materials and method: Study with a qualitative approach and descriptive nature. It will be carried out in the municipality of Ribeirão Preto-SP, in seven primary care services, three basic health units and four family health units, comprising at least one service in each Ribeirão Preto Health District. All nurses assigned to the study, with one year or more of work in the health unit, and who are not in a supervisory role in that unit, on vacation, on leave or away at the time of data collection, will be invited to participate in the study. The aim is to carry out semi-structured interviews, individually, with the interview being based on a previously tested script. The interviews will be audio recorded and transcribed in full. It is also intended to carry out participant observation of the work of these nurses. To describe the observations, the field diary will be used. The interview transcripts and the observation field diary will be subjected to thematic analysis. Ethical aspects: The project was approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the Ribeirão Preto School of Nursing of the University of São Paulo under opinion number 6.018.128 and CAEE 66603922.2.0000.5393.
